Enjoy the cool and beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley on this guided backpacking adventure on the Tuscarora trail through Virginia with a beginner to moderate level wilderness hike on the western bypass of the Appalachian trail. This program is perfect for the Scout interested in backpacking. 

HIKE ON Tuscarora Trail Trek FEE: $650.00 YOUTH or ADULT (includes regular camp fee)

• June 14-20
• June 28 - July 4

 

SAMPLE SCHEDULE: (subject to change)

• Sunday
  • arrive/check-in at Camp Sinoquipe with your Troop
    • (Option to come directly to Camp Rock Enon - prior arrangements)
  • complete medical and swim checks
  • transport from Camp Sinoquipe to adventure program base camp at Rock Enon
• Monday
  • Pre-Trek instruction, planning and shakedown
• Tuesday
  • Depart basecamp and begin your 4-day 3-night journey on our Red trail up to Pinnacle Rock and enjoy the spectacular views overloong camp and into West Virginia before heading down the Tuscarora trail. Overnight at one of the local trail shelters. 
•  Wednesday & Thursday
  • Trek continues, overnight on the trail. 
• Friday
  • Complete the trek as you arrive at the pick up location. Transport back to Rock Enon. Enjoy a hot shower and enjoy a feast to celebrate your return in the dining hall. Time permitting spend some time swimming, canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding in the lake. 
• Saturday
  • Transport back to Camp Sinoquipe to check out with your Troop

ADVENTURE PROGRAM DETAILS:

• Space is very limited 
• Open to all Scouts age 13+ at the time of summer camp and registered adult leaders
• The HIKE ON Tuscarora Trail Trek adventure program is based out of Camp Rock Enon in Gore, Virginia
• Transportation is provided from Camp Sinoquipe to the base camp at Rock Enon for participants whose troop is attending Camp Sinoquipe. Otherwise participants must transport themselves to/from Camp Rock Enon for Sunday check-in and Saturday check-out. 
• Transportation from base camp at Rock Enon to all adventure program activities during the session is included
• Participants will be housed at base camp at Rock Enon in the typical 2-person canvas wall tents with a cot
• Participants will need to furnish their own backpacking pack. 
• All meals and adventure program equipment are provided during the session
• All participants are required to have a BSA Medical form parts A,B & C
